Context

Anamnèse is an innovative mobile and desktop interface designed to record and reactivate memories through sound experiences. The aim of this solution is to enable users to anchor their memories by saving them in the form of sounds, in order to compensate for their gradual erasure from memory. This project was carried out over a six-month period as part of my final year project, where I was given carte blanche to develop a solution to a given problem. We chose to explore the power of sound as a memory tool, in a world saturated by visuals.

From October to April 2024 (6 months)

Challenges
and approach

One of the major challenges was to offer an alternative to visual memories, often dominant in our society, by reintroducing sound as the main vector of memory. Coupled with generative artificial intelligence, Anamnèse also makes it possible to recreate sounds missing from recordings, offering a complete and immersive experience. This process enables users to relive their memories through a personalized sound playlist, without any visuals influencing or skewing their temporal journey.

Art direction

The graphic charter is built around blue, a color chosen for its soothing properties and its ability to evoke confidence and serenity, emotions central to the user experience. Initially oriented towards a dark theme, we integrated the circle as the main graphic element, symbolizing the cycle of life, the passage of time and infinity. This was a natural choice to emphasize the continuity and persistence of memories through time. The sleek design, centered on the fluidity of forms, reflects this idea of lightness and timelessness.

Communication

The digital communication around Anamnèse was conceived in motion design, with a visual dynamic that embodies movement and evolution. Printed materials, meanwhile, focus on life moments captured and enhanced by the application, inviting users to rediscover the power of auditory memories.

Emotional personalization

To amplify the emotional impact of our solution, we've added a feature that lets you burn audio playlists onto CDs or vinyl. This not only provides a tangible memento for loved ones, such as grandparents, but also enables them to relive precious moments through a personalized sound experience. This option makes Anamnèse both a modern and intergenerational tool, offering a bridge between the old and the new.
