Zed is a mobile app created by Gen Z, for Gen Z.
As someone from this generation, I understand how challenging it can be to find our path and pursue what truly matters to us.
In a world filled with distractions like social media, streaming platforms, and countless digital interruptions, staying focused has become a daily struggle. Zed aims to change that by acting as a smart companion, helping us piece together our days with intention and purpose to create a brighter future.

Helping Gen Z take action

Through user research, it became clear that Gen Z is highly comfortable navigating various interfaces but values simplicity and familiarity.

The challenge was to design an intuitive UI that prioritizes user needs while minimizing distractions. Gen Z values simplicity and familiarity, so I created a dark-mode app with subtle interaction tweaks for a fresh yet accessible experience. The goal was to balance innovation with usability, making the app both engaging and seamless.

To give Zed a bold and cohesive identity, I chose an orange and black palette for its energy and focus.
Dark mode enhances immersion and reduces eye strain, while clean typography ensures clarity. Using Funnel Display and Outfit from Google Fonts, the design balances modern aesthetics with flexibility. Every element—from spacing to hierarchy—was crafted to create a sleek, user-friendly experience that keeps users focused and productive.

the smart companion

Zed is an AI-powered app designed to boost productivity and guide young people in self-discovery, time management, and personal growth. It curates personalized recommendations, from hobbies to reliable resources, helping users stay focused and engaged. By filtering out resource overload, Zed simplifies learning with handpicked content—videos, podcasts, and challenges—ensuring a meaningful, actionable journey. As users grow, they can customize their Zed menu, making it a smart companion for achieving goals while staying true to their passions.

From design to development

Bringing Zed to life has been both challenging and rewarding.
As a product designer, diving into full-scale app development pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Learning to code was my first major hurdle, but it allowed me to create an MVP, test the concept, and refine it through real user feedback. Now, I’m focused on scaling Zed into a cross-platform solution for wider accessibility. This journey has reinforced my adaptability and the value of bridging design with development—turning vision into reality, one line of code at a time.
